Welcome back to FaceOff! This week we have something super fun: Alien Werewolves. It’s like combining our favorite horror characters in one, now all we need is a zombie apocalypse to strike the local towns children and we will be all set.
SPOTLIGHT CHALLENGE: Create a zombie werewolf based on a planet in the solar system
House & Meagan – Mars Astronaut turned Werewolf
Lauren – He sure is red…and kind of looks like a pig. I do like how to fixed up the face sculpt so the model could move her mouth (previously the head piece was too large). At the very least there is a story going on here with this character – there is continuity in the color, the style, the paint job and I like the story of an astronaut being attacked by a space werewolf and turning. I don’t think it’s particularly good looking, but it certainly completes the challenge. And she’s in jeggings, and we all know how I love jeggings. David Bowie’s in space.
Judges – Great concept, successful shape, impressed with paint job
Eric Z & Autumn – Jupiter Werewolf
Lauren – Oh man. This is a monstrosity. The face sculpt looks, as others on the show have said, like a dog. And the rock texture doesn’t work at all. There is no continuity with it so the creature just looks like it has bad mange. There is no connection between the sculpted parts and the model, the concept is awful. Let’s take a moment to think of the logic behind making a werewolf made of stone so he can subvert the planets extreme gravitational pull. Think about that a moment. And what the fuck is going on with the fur loin cloth? Such a fail.
Judges – This is a nightmare, a travesty
Wayne & Kris – Neptune Werewolf
Lauren – This thing is massive and the mold is beautiful even before they paint it. After it was painted it looked a lot more blue than I thought it would be, but I don’t dislike it. I mean, it’s Neptune. Blue. I get it. The height on this thing is intimidating, and the sculpt is just awesome. But I’m sad that this face doesn’t move. It’s not functional and therefore is problematic in terms of being a real, movie-ready makeup.
Judges – Love the detailing, amazing job
Eric F & Anthony – Winged Space Werewolf from Saturn
Lauren – Ok. While I like that he’s winged, and I like his snarl, the actor can’t move his face and that really bums me out. They did a lot of work, but it’s just so immobile – the actor is backwards! the face can’t move! The arms can’t move! And he may be made of denim, according to this angle.
Judges – While the work was impressive, the piece was not successful
Winner: Wayne & Kris! Obviously. Kris takes the official win due to his sculptural work on the back.
Loser: Autumn. No surprise. She has continually disappointed.
