I am loving the rise of the small works shows. They not only allow a larger number of artists to participate but the works themselves are priced to sell which allows normal art-loving folks the opportunity to have a work from their favorite artists and start their own collection. The latest Pop-Up Exhibition from Creative Salem continues this theme (with a twist!) for their 3×5 show April 24th.
The 3×5 Exhibition is also doubling as a fundraiser for Creative Salem so they can continue to host various events throughout the area, and will also support Salem Main Streets. Works provided for the event will be sold to benefit these two organizations, so it’s a great way to get creative while supporting two great causes. The twist being that patrons will purchase the work, all priced at only $15, without knowing anything about the artists or who they are, furthering my personal mantra of buying what you love, not a ‘name’.
Artists may donate up to three pieces, measuring 3×5″, and may be of any medium and subject matter (unframed works please!) and all identifying marks such as signatures should be on the reverse. Works must be submitted by April 15th with the event opening on April 24th at THEATRE (at the Salem Theatre).
