So I’ve done a crap job of giving you enough suggestions for gifts this year, and you are lazy with too much shopping left to do and we’re just a few more days til Christmas. What do we do? Buy stuff you can print out and put in an envelope! Here are my new favorite clubs, gift certificates and other printable last minute fancies.
The Carnivore Club – $50/m
Know someone that likes meat? Gift the gift of gorging with a membership to the Carnivore Club! Every month they will ship a box of cured meats from around the world for you to try. Pick however many months you want to gift and voila!
gift wrap idea: print it out on sturdy paper and wrap in newspaper tied with twine
Hot Sauce of the Month Club – $18/m
Everyone’s got that uncle who loves a little danger and a lot of flavor in his life. Well, the Hot Sauce of the Month Club is just perfect. Pick from 3, 6, 9 or 12 month durations, and even what month the shipments should start in 2014. Shipping is always free, so just pay for the membership up front and let it ride, baby.
Etsy Gift Card – $25 and up
The Etsy Gift Card really is a choose-your-own-adventure kind of gift. With thousands of independent vendors selling just about everything under the sun, this gift card is like the magic key to that handmade door. Great for anyone, really great for friends who like to support small business and the handmade movement.
Museum Membership – $ varies
Nothing says ‘I care’ like the gift of great art, culture, and education. Many institutions offer various levels of membership, though I would always suggest ponying up for the level that allows the member to bring a guest – trust me on this one, they will want to bring a friend.
Not into art museums? Go for your local science museum, technology museum, fashion or cryptozoology museum (if they live in Portland, ME!). There are plenty of institutions in your area and buying the gift of membership is easy to do and worth every. single. penny.
