After lamenting the decline of fashion magazine’s efforts to break free of the ‘jumping model’ and ‘dead behind the eyes’, we search for fashion photographers working outside of the realm and often find ourselves pleasantly surprised.
And when we find fashion photography in a magazine that is breaking barriers? More like art than advertisement? Well, we get Vision Magazine and the collab of Yin Chao and Vision Editor Ujin Zhao.
And when the spread is an homage to the work of Alexander McQueen, we get something unbelievable.
As a whole, this is a beautiful homage to the late designer blending his oft-used themes of nature, human anatomy, and a woman’s simultaneous strength and fragility. Though the spread is clearly inspired by McQueen, the final product is a work of art all on it’s own thanks to the vision of Yin Chao.
Ooh, and the best part about this? All the collages are hand-done. Yup.
My scrap-booking is officially bush league.
