This finale was pretty impossible. Three amazing talents, all of which I rooted for in their own seasons (Roy and Laura were particularly tough), and three makeups that were undoubtedly going to be awesome. And they were.
SPOTLIGHT CHALLENGE: Create a Swan and Sorcerer for Swan Lake with a particular theme.
Roy: Far East
As always, Roy’s vision is bold, innovative, and over the top. His evil sorcerer is absolutely incredible, and his appliances are gorgeous and perfectly fit the theme for his characters, but are also appropriate for ballet – maneuverable, ornate, and easily seen from the rafters.
Overall, it was beautiful and impressive and I’ll miss seeing his work every week.
Tate: Industrial Revolution
I will say I am not loving the sorcerer. I understand him, but I don’t love the application. I do, however, love the Swan. The uniqueness of the feather application on the head and chest was so lovely, and the colors! The dusty rose, the peaches and the creams. Just a gorgeous palate. Lovely laying of the feathers. Sigh. Ooh Tate.
Laura: Italian Renaissance
To me, this was the clear winner of the bunch. Between the headpieces to the completion of the vision, it is just exquisite. I love the ballet, and I would be thrilled to see her work grace the stage the way it did on the finale. Laura’s work has been top notch in both seasons, and I am so happy to be able to say she finally took the crown of FaceOff Champion this year.
