Midnight Moment is an ongoing project by the Times Square Ad Coalition and Times Square Arts bringing just a few moments of joy to our lives through digital art each midnight. Since most reasonable people do not spend an extended amount of time in Times Square, or any time, you have probably missed the OSGEMEOS installation all month long.
Each night from 11:57pm to midnight, OSGEMEOS’ animations have interacted with and entertained people through nearly all the electronic billboards in the Square. And you’ve missed it.
“Through the depiction of these iconic characters, OSGEMEOS’s animation, Parallel Connection, breaks the barriers between imagination and reality. The brothers, Gustavo and Otavio Pandolfo, want to connect with the joyful and creative aspects that they feel every individual has inside of themselves and can visualize through dreams. The dream world is the one place where every person in the universe can be connected if they can just break the barriers between imagination and the physical world.”
Did you hear that? Break the barriers between imagination and the physical world! Break you better instincts and go to the Square for three minutes at least one night this August! I can’t promise fake-Elmo and painted fake boobs (which is apparently a thing now, too) won’t bombard you, but just keep your eyes on the skies and you will be delighted.
And if you get barfed on by wayward Broadway go-ers, or pooped on by a baby wandering alone in the middle of the damn city, don’t blame me. Blame the art.
