Here’s Steve Martin tearing up some bluegrass and taking on a job that pretty much carves my trip to NYC this summer in stone.
Let’s just say, something fantastic this way comes…
Official Wild and Crazy Guy and one of my favorite musicians, Steve Martin, is set to score the Shakespeare classic As You Like It, this summer at the Public Theatre’s annual Park performance this June.
With the re-imagining of the story, now set in the 1840’s American South, it seems a perfect challenge for Martin; an intellectual, comedian, theorist and, well, one of the greatest banjo players around. Coming off his recent International Bluegrass Music Association 2011 win for Entertainer of the Year (along with his fantastic band mates, The Steep Canyon Rangers) and individual Grammy win in 2009, this project seems pretty much perfect.
