Well, I could lie and say this is bittersweet but frankly it’s not. It’s time, and it’s cool.
The Junkyard has been an incredible outlet for me for nearly a decade, I have seen countless exhibitions, explored innumerable art events, and met some truly inspiring and bizarre people along the way. In this self-indulgent exploration of sorts I have been humbled by your presence, dear readers. Your steadfast support of my whimsy, my ranting and raging, and often my mundanity, has been more than I could have hoped for. I will miss a good many things about writing for the Junkyard, but most of all I will miss the audience participation.
At the end of the day, the Junkyard’s purpose was to support the education understanding, and appreciation of the arts. I’m not sure how much of that goal I accomplished here but I’m proud of everything nonetheless.
I’m thankful for this platform which allowed me to express my ideas, unfettered, on art and pop culture. I’m grateful for your audience. I most appreciate the conversations that happened along the way and the friends I’ve made. Thank you.
With that, I think I’ve said all I have to say. The Junkyard will be archived (because holy shit I wrote a lot over the past decade) and will be here for your browsing pleasure. Who knows, maybe there’s stuff in there worth sharing around, or to argue with, or to inspire you, I don’t know. I will of course continue exploring, critiquing, and supporting the arts, and I know you will too. We just don’t have to talk about it.
Thanks everyone. It’s been real.
