We’ve all seen the hilarious/inspired/chilling/ridiculous photos of underwater dogs that went viral last month because, well, who doesn’t love dogs in funny pictures?
Well, WIRED has a a great interview with the artist, Seth Casteel, that shows how a working-but-struggling photographer came to be known the world over as ‘that guy that took those underwater dog pics’ – and there’s a whole lot more to the man behind the camera.
And as for his living situation?
“The only detail Casteel will reveal about his new financial situation is that he has gone from “a struggling entrepreneur to someone who is going to have a career.””
Casteel is a professional pet photographer who not only has a soft spot for critters and the camera, but is using his talents to help Fido and the lot of em’ in kennels all over through Second Chance Photos. Casteel takes often scared, dirty and confused pups from the kennel and photographs them in a way that shows their personality, and their potential, and shows others how they can do the same with his tips. Using various techniques to show these critters in the best light increases their chances of adoption dramatically, and gives them back some of the dignity and confidence they may have lost through their struggles in the kennel system.
So not only does this guy have a sense of humor and excellent timing with his shutter, but he’s also an animal lover dedicated to bringing out the best is the critters around us. Let me tell ya, there are few things I love more than seeing good people with talent succeed – here’s hoping Casteel continues with a long, furry, bouncy, happy, slobbery career because I certainly would love to see more of what he can do.
